The unforeseen is killing everyone who gets in its path. Nobody knows what it is or why it’s happening. People across the globe appear to be dying on their birthday, at the exact time they were born. Inseparable twins, Cat and Tom, have two days left to live. With their sweet sixteenth fast approaching, they have to accept that this may be it. See ya later! But then, Cat, a gifted writer who lacks confidence in her ability, is handed a mysterious brown envelope by her mother with the clear instructions; don’t show your brother, it will kill him.
Amidst a world gone crazy and people from all walks of life dropping dead, can the Government figure out a way to stop the unforeseen from taking those who are left?
And how will Cat and Tom survive in a world Cat had only ever dreamt of writing about herself?

I don't think I need to even write a review about this one, considering the blurb above literally says how good it is just by reading that little section? Seriously, these novelettes I am reading lately are incredible. I'm amazed at how a miniscule amount of pages can have an effect that great on me as a reader like this one did. From the first page I was hooked...

Being one-half of a twin has been the best thing to ever happen to me. Mind you, it will also be the worst. On February 28th —in two days from now–– Tom and I will both be lying on the floor. Dead. See ya later! Happy fuckin’ birthday.

I have a very sarcastic sense of humour, and seeing as this was some sort of Dystopian post apocalyptic weird ass thriller, I really didn't expect to laugh as much as I did. The humour in it had my giggling from the very first sentence. Kudos to the author because that's hard to pull off.
Everyone starts to die, at the same time they were born, randomly without a medical cause, literally...just drop. The government start running around like headless chickens pretending they know what's going on, when really, everyone is shitting themselves, knowing WHEN they will die, at the EXACT moment. How would you feel if you actually knew about that news? How would you react?
Considering the MC was a young girl, not even half way into her life yet, I loved this stance, it's not often you have such innocent main characters having to deal with such impending, serious news and watching your parents die in front of you, and you are expected to what, just carry on?
That's precisely what she did, and not only did we follow the story through her POV, we are introduced to secondary characters with different backgrounds, and knowing they were dying without actually hearing about the Unforeseen yet. The world went crazy, how brilliant of a plot is that? It was like a BETTER VERSION, entirely better version of final destination. The plot was spaced out perfectly, the way it flowed, the split POVs and time shifts, written like a diary entry were a favourite of mine, I love a good diary entry feel when I'm reading a book. As you are reading this you are probably thinking, how does she have so much to say when they're only 62 pages?

Pick it up, read it. You'll see why I loved it so much.

I can't say much else without ruining the whole entire plot for everyone, but what I will say is...
This is not a book you'd expect the ending to be, I would NOT have guessed it. What is in that little brown envelope that was so important she couldn't show her brother as it would KILL him?!

I would love to see a next part in this novelette, or some sort of epilogue but I can really see why the author chose to do it this way, and I'm not even complaining. Very very good read.

Review swayed you yet? Good...
